"Once Upon a Childhood"

"Once Upon a Childhood" is a symphony that brings to life the essence of childhood—its playfulness, innocence, and deep emotions. Rooted in the Classical era, the work is particularly influenced by the early symphonies of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to whom the first movement is dedicated (2024).

Dance of the Geraniums

"Dance of the Geraniums" is inspired by the Persian New Year (Nowruz), which begins with the arrival of spring. Nowruz holds deep cultural significance in Iran, marking a time of renewal, joy, and reflection. As flowers bloom and the earth awakens, communities come together to celebrate the rebirth of nature. Geraniums, my favorite flower, symbolize the vibrant energy and beauty of this season, often seen decorating homes and gardens during the holidays (2020).

Story of Dhohhak

This cantata for choir and orchestra brings to life the legend of Dhohhak, drawn from Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh in Friedrich Rückert’s German translation. The music portrays Dhohhak’s dark rise, his demonic reign, and ultimate defeat by the young hero Feridun. Set entirely in German, the work bridges Iranian myth with European musical tradition and resonates deeply with contemporary sociopolitical symbolism—Dhohhak, the tyrant who feeds the serpents on his shoulders with the blood of the youth, mirrors the cruelty of modern dictatorships. In dramatic motifs and vivid choral narration, this cantata channels a timeless story of oppression and liberation, calling audiences to reflect on the past and present (2025).
